We saw one of these driving down Los Feliz Blvd this past Sunday. Apparently these people feel Gated Communities are eeeeeevil. I don't completely disagree with them. I'm not a fan of the fortress mentality either and I agree with their third bullet point especially.

Just Say NO to Keeping up with the Gated-Jones'...
that's funny. i want my very own viewing platform. i think we instinctively seek to destroy or infiltrate anything we're banned from- whether it be closed executive session meetings or the teachers lounge. we rebel at what is kept from us- no one likes to NOT be an elitist or not be a member of MENSA (for instance). while i admit the gated community idea is ridiculous if you consider that they are probably more conspicuously targeted for trouble-but it's not like a gang of well- troublemakers is going to jump the guard gates and go tagging the houses and throwing trash around- that's not what makes a community "unsafe"... did you guys ever see that movie called "Suburbia" from the 80's? Same premise, same shiny lawns- i don't think people really "get it". most people look at what's behind the gates and say, yes, i'd like to live there- why isn't that something i should aspire too? a shiny orange ladder, while an eye getter, does little to address the envy or mimcry coming from outside the gates.
